Your Investiagion Starts with a Conversation
What Would We Discover About Your Business?
Every business leaves a trail of clues. Some are obvious. Others hide in plain sight—buried inside sales conversations, customer support tickets, reviews, analytics, abandoned shopping carts, even the language people use when they describe their frustrations.
By themselves, those clues don't tell us much. But put together, well, that's a whole other story. They reveal what's really going on.
And it's hardly ever the story your company tells. It's the story your prospects have been trying to tell you all along. What does their story say about you?
Where We Begin
Not with rewriting your homepage… or brainstorming headlines. Certainly not with tweaking colors of buttons. And we never assume that we already know what's wrong.
We ask questions so we can gather evidence. We're looking for patterns. We challenge assumptions. And we follow clues until they point in the same direction.
What You Really Pay for with Me
Most people think they're hiring a copywriter. They're not. They're getting so much more. They're getting someone to uncover why your persuasion breaks down in the first place.
That can lead to new copy. Or changes to the offer. Sometimes it means reworking their positioning. And sometimes there's no problem with the copy at all.
First, We Decide What We're Investigating
Maybe prospects keep comparing you on price. Maybe your sales team spends half its time explaining something you thought your website made obvious. Or maybe people love your product once they try it—but getting them to try it is another story.
We begin with a specific business problem. Before the paid investigation starts, we'll agree on the question we're trying to answer, the material I'll examine, what I'll deliver, the fee, and the timeframe. We may discover that the question needs to change. But you'll know what you're commissioning before we begin.
What You Walk Away With
You' receive a written account of what I found, the evidence behind it, and what it suggests we should do next. You'll see what we have good reason to believe, what we still need to test, and where we're missing information.
Then we'll walk through the findings together. You can question the reasoning, add context, and point out anything that doesn't square with your experience. We'll use that conversation to decide which changes deserve attention first.
What Happens After That?
The findings might point to a new landing page, a different offer, a sales letter, or a change in positioning. They might also show that something is working and ought to be left alone.
If you'd like me to develop the copy or help carry the recommendations forward, we'll agree on that work separately. We'll also discuss how to evaluate the changes using the information and tools available to your business. The investigation gives us a reason to make a change. What happens afterward helps us learn whether we got it right.
